Dieta Noya-Rao

What Is a Dieta?

Not a diet as in restriction. A dieta as in a structured way of entering into relationship with a specific plant spirit — through discipline, intention, and the willingness to be still long enough to listen.

You follow guidelines. You eat simply, and some days you fast. You practice yoga every morning as the jungle wakes around you. You sit in ceremony. And through all of it, something builds — a conversation between you and the plant that cannot be rushed, only opened to. Here, that plant is Noya Rao.

Noya Rao — The Tree of Light

In Shipibo, Noya means flying and Rao means plant spirit. The Flying Plant Spirit.

She works underneath — on the places where trust closed, where love contracted, where you built a wall so gradually you forgot it was there. What people describe after a Noya Rao Dieta is a dissolving. A returning to something they had stopped believing was still theirs.

Five trees. That is all there are in the entire Amazon Basin. Her leaves glow in the dark when they fall. The Mahua Shipibo have held her in sacred ceremony for centuries. In this lineage, dieting with her bark is essential on the path of the healer.

Why Noya Rao and Yoga?

Yoga means union. Noya Rao teaches non-duality. Different words. The same recognition — that we are not separate from each other, from the plant, from what the tradition calls Source.

At One Breath, these two paths have been held together for over a decade. Not side by side — as one understanding, expressed through different practices. The yoga grounds the body and steadies the mind. The ceremonies open what practice has prepared. Together, the experience goes deeper.

The Ceremonies

Four Ayahuasca ceremonies held across ten days. Each moves through a different quality of work — healing, alignment, protection. Each one stands on what came before.

Around them: daily yoga holds the body. Temazcal. A visit to the Cenote. Flower Bath. Sound Healing and Breathwork. A sharing circle with the maestros. Every element is there for a reason — to hold what the ceremonies open, to bring it into the body, into language, into the days that follow.

Preparation before each ceremony and integration are thoughtfully woven throughout the programme.

Wondering if this is for You?

  • You feel called to go deeper, not into a ceremony, but into a real relationship with a plant spirit. Into the kind of work that doesn't end after one night.
  • Maybe you have sat in ceremony before or maybe you have been practicing yoga for a while, and sense there is a deeper layer.
  • Maybe you have been circling this decision for longer than you can explain. Maybe you don't feel ready — and feel called anyway.
  • What brings people to a Noya Rao Dieta is not experience, and not readiness. It is the pull, toward something real, toward going deeper, toward meeting what has been waiting to be unfolded.

FAQ

A retreat typically involves one or more Ayahuasca ceremonies over a short period. A dieta is a different commitment — a ten-day structured relationship with Noya Rao specifically, built through daily discipline, yoga, and four ceremonies. The Ayahuasca is part of the dieta. The dieta is not just Ayahuasca.

Not required. What is required is genuine interest and clear intention. If you are unsure whether this is the right step, write to us — the conversation will help you understand.

Detailed preparation guidance is shared in detail before you arrive.

During the ten days: no pork, red meat, oil, salt, sugar, chocolate, or certain fruits — papaya, watermelon, mango. No caffeine or alcohol. No sex. Personal care products must be 100% natural and fragrance-free.

Every dieta is individual. Your specific guidelines may be adjusted in conversation with the facilitators — established through the process, not fixed before it begins.

Post-dieta instructions are part of the closing ceremony. Integration continues after you leave — guidance is provided, and Pamela remains available for questions in the weeks that follow.

This Space, With You in Mind

Yoga teachers. Plant medicine facilitators. Breathwork leaders. Sound healers. Retreat organizers of any kind — for those who deeply believe in the work they do and genuinely care for the people in their group.

One Breath is not the right space for every retreat. It is an ashram — simple, grounded, without resort-style luxury. What it offers is something harder to find: a home that has held years of real practice, and a community that receives your group as part of its own.

If you are looking for a space that holds the same values you hold, we open our home for you.

Yoga & Meditation

The practice at One Breath of Yoga is rooted in the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition, taught by Coco — founder of the ashram and a practitioner and teacher of this lineage for over twenty years. Morning classes happen in our open-air shala, surrounded by the jungle. Guided meditation with Coco is woven through the week alongside the practice — a space to settle, integrate, and deepen what the body is already moving through.

Beginners and experienced practitioners are both welcome. The teaching adapts to the person, not the other way around.

About Coco and the lineage

Sacred Plant Medicine

The practice holds you in the body — breath by breath, day by day. The ceremonies bring you into a deeper connection with yourself, with nature, with what has been waiting beneath the noise of ordinary life.

At One Breath, both have been woven together for over a decade. Ayahuasca, Temazcal, Cacao, and plant medicine rituals are woven through the week, held by Pamela, our experienced facilitator, with full preparation and integration support before and after each ceremony.

Participation is always optional. Every guest chooses their own path. What we offer is a setting where that choice can be made with clarity, care, and the right support around it.

Community

The ashram is a living place. Some of the people you’ll share it with came for a week — and are still here years later. Volunteers, musicians, practitioners — All of them drawn by the same quiet pull — toward connection, toward something real.

Foko cooks. Music in the air. Evenings settle into quiet. The jungle breathes around you. And somehow, without trying, it starts to feel like home.

Wondering if this is for You?

  • You feel at a turning point in your life. That something different is possible, even if you cannot fully name what it is just yet.
  • Maybe you have been practising yoga for years, or maybe you have never set foot on a mat. Maybe you have been curious about plant medicine for a long time, or maybe the idea still feels unfamiliar. Maybe your life looks fine from the outside and you still know, somewhere, that you are ready for something more honest.
  • What brings people here is not a specific background. It is that feeling — and the willingness to follow it somewhere real.
