What Is a Dieta?
Not a diet as in restriction. A dieta as in a structured way of entering into relationship with a specific plant spirit — through discipline, intention, and the willingness to be still long enough to listen.
You follow guidelines. You eat simply, and some days you fast. You practice yoga every morning as the jungle wakes around you. You sit in ceremony. And through all of it, something builds — a conversation between you and the plant that cannot be rushed, only opened to. Here, that plant is Noya Rao.
Noya Rao — The Tree of Light
In Shipibo, Noya means flying and Rao means plant spirit. The Flying Plant Spirit.
She works underneath — on the places where trust closed, where love contracted, where you built a wall so gradually you forgot it was there. What people describe after a Noya Rao Dieta is a dissolving. A returning to something they had stopped believing was still theirs.
Five trees. That is all there are in the entire Amazon Basin. Her leaves glow in the dark when they fall. The Mahua Shipibo have held her in sacred ceremony for centuries. In this lineage, dieting with her bark is essential on the path of the healer.
Why Noya Rao and Yoga?
Yoga means union. Noya Rao teaches non-duality. Different words. The same recognition — that we are not separate from each other, from the plant, from what the tradition calls Source.
At One Breath, these two paths have been held together for over a decade. Not side by side — as one understanding, expressed through different practices. The yoga grounds the body and steadies the mind. The ceremonies open what practice has prepared. Together, the experience goes deeper.
The Ceremonies
Four Ayahuasca ceremonies held across ten days. Each moves through a different quality of work — healing, alignment, protection. Each one stands on what came before.
Around them: daily yoga holds the body. Temazcal. A visit to the Cenote. Flower Bath. Sound Healing and Breathwork. A sharing circle with the maestros. Every element is there for a reason — to hold what the ceremonies open, to bring it into the body, into language, into the days that follow.
Preparation before each ceremony and integration are thoughtfully woven throughout the programme.
Wondering if this is for You?
- You feel called to go deeper, not into a ceremony, but into a real relationship with a plant spirit. Into the kind of work that doesn't end after one night.
- Maybe you have sat in ceremony before or maybe you have been practicing yoga for a while, and sense there is a deeper layer.
- Maybe you have been circling this decision for longer than you can explain. Maybe you don't feel ready — and feel called anyway.
- What brings people to a Noya Rao Dieta is not experience, and not readiness. It is the pull, toward something real, toward going deeper, toward meeting what has been waiting to be unfolded.

This place is beyond my wildest imagination. I have traveled the world, trained with a lot of teachers and done a previous ashtanga TTC in India, but what Coco and her team has managed to create here is pure magic. There is an abundance of love and personality in all the details of this ashram. Everyday we would wake up to the Shala filled with candles and incense. We’d get deep adjustments from Coco and her team (special thanks to Josh) during our Mysore practice, unbelievable fresh and yummy vegan food, music and transformational ceremonies.

The next thing I know I have moved to Puerto Morelos 🧘🏻♂️😊 If you are sincere in your desire to truly work on yourself then you will find no better place to do so. Gracias mi profesora!

FAQ
A retreat typically involves one or more Ayahuasca ceremonies over a short period. A dieta is a different commitment — a ten-day structured relationship with Noya Rao specifically, built through daily discipline, yoga, and four ceremonies. The Ayahuasca is part of the dieta. The dieta is not just Ayahuasca.
